God Says Change is Always an Option

Most teenage girls (or women in general) out there think after reading posts like mine, or just after hearing about what God wants women to do in their life, that it’s too late for them. That they can’t change their ways of wanting a career, and of wanting to be equal with men in everything, because they think that just because it’s been fixed in their minds for years of their life that they want to do certain careers, that God will not forgive them for what they’ve thought about doing even if they want to change. But I’m telling you guys right now, that that is not true at all. “Our God is a forgiving God”, I think we’ve all heard that line before by many people, and that’s because it’s true. If God never forgave us for any sins that we’ve committed, then almost none of us would be going to heaven when we die. In fact, there’s a lot of verses in the bible that explains that we can change and be forgiven, here are a few that I have found so far and what they all mean:

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 (KJV)
Definition: It is not wrong to follow our culture’s traditions and values as long as those values do not conflict with the will of God as shown in the Bible. But where our culture asks us to go against God’s will we must do things the way God says too. This takes a change of mind to follow God’s will.

“22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians: 4:22-24 (KJV)
Definition: Our old man is our sin nature. When we accept Christ we have been spiritually made alive and this is our new man. So now there is a war going on between our new man and our old man and we need to follow the Spirit and follow God’s will.

“5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:5-6 (KJV)
Definition: While we cannot lose our salvation once we have trusted in Christ as our savior that does not mean we won’t still follow our old sinful nature. If we follow our sinful nature it could cost us our life, but following God’s ways lead to life and peace especially to peaceful marriages.

“8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” James 4:8 (KJV)
Definition: We need to ask God to purify our hearts from the thoughts of the old man help us not to be double minded where we are trying to follow God and our sin nature at the same time. We cannot do both, we must choose to follow one or the other.

“5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV)
Definition: It is not wrong to have an imagination or imagine many wonderful and pleasurable things. God has given us our imaginations as a gift. But it is wrong to imagine or dwell on thoughts that are against the knowledge God found in the Bible. We need to run every thought we have by the Bible and make it obedient to Christ.

“3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” Proverbs 16:3 (KJV)
Definition: If we commit our life to God on a daily basis, he will guide our thoughts and help us to have the right attitude toward the things that happen to us on a daily basis.

“23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV)
Definition: We should ask God on a daily basis show us if our thoughts or attitudes are sinful and not in line with his word.

“9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Definition: Sometimes it takes time after we accept Christ to realize all the wrong thinking we had about various issues including gender roles and marriage. We cannot live in the past of our wrong thinking but instead we need to realize God forgives for all past wrongs including wrong thinking and attitudes. We simply must confess to God our wrong attitudes and thoughts and purpose in our heart to follow his will for lives.
